1. In the past( Writing and Speaking)
Students get in groups of 4. Give them a set of pieces of paper with time expressions and verbs.The time expressions and verbs are placed together.Students take turn to choose 2 papers, if the chosen papers are a time expression and a verb, they have to make 1 sentence using them, but if the papers are both verbs/expression, they have to make 2 sentences.They discard the papers that have been used. Students write the sentences in their notebooks. When they finish, read the sentences to the class. e.g. Time expression: "an hour ago" Verb: "be" Sentence: I was in my house an hour ago.
2. How many?
Prepare some questios in pieces of paper
Students get in pairs. Give them one question per pair. Tell students that they have to find how many people did the action.They need to ask everybody in the class. They write the student's name and the answer yes or no. When they finish asking, each pair share the results with the class. e.g Did you watch TV last night? Results: 10 people watched TV last night
3. Regular and irregular verbs
"Raffle" (this activity is perfect to be used as a warm up or review)
Prepare pieces of paper with verbs.Tell students choose a paper( some are in blank) The students have to say the simple past of the verbs.
4. Unscramble - Questions word
Prepare questions in pieces of paper. Organize the class in groups and give them some papers and they have to construct correct questions.
5. The cabbage - Daily routines
Write some phrases/verbs in different papers. Then, put the papers together in form of a cabbage. While a song is being played, the cabbage is passing around the classroom, when the song stops the student who has the cabbage reads one paper and makes a sentence with the phrase/verb.
